Fumarate-Vinyl Acetate Copolymer (T816A) is a type of specialty polymer additive designed for high-grade lubricant formulations. It is synthesized through the copolymerization of fumarate monomers and vinyl acetate monomers under controlled catalytic conditions, with a tailored molecular structure that balances flexibility and polarity. In terms of core functions, T816A mainly serves as a pour point depressant and cold flow improver in lubricant systems, and also has an auxiliary effect on optimizing low-temperature viscosity performance. As a pour point depressant, its polymer chains can adsorb on the surface of wax crystals that form in lubricating oil at low temperatures. This adsorption interferes with the regular growth and aggregation of wax crystals, preventing them from forming a continuous network structure that would cause the oil to solidify. In this way, T816A effectively lowers the pour point of lubricants, allowing them to maintain good fluidity even at extremely low temperatures.
As a cold flow improver, it improves the low-temperature pumping performance of lubricants, which is crucial for equipment operating in cold regions or under low-temperature start-up conditions. It ensures that lubricants can quickly circulate through oil passages after equipment start-up, avoiding dry friction caused by delayed lubrication and protecting key components such as engines and gearboxes.
In addition, T816A has good thermal stability and can maintain stable performance in a certain temperature range without decomposing or losing effectiveness.
