Silicon carbide refractory materials (SiC) generally form a certain thickness of silica layer on the surface after exposure to high temperatures, which can protect the SiC grains from erosion. Oxygen (O2) and water vapor (H2O), among others, promote the formation of this silica layer. When the operating temperature range reaches above 1200°C, silicon carbide refractory materials (SiC) bonded with silicon-based binders are more suitable than those bonded with nitrides.

Various factors, such as particle distribution and composition content in silicon carbide refractory materials (SiC), affect the oxidation resistance of this material. By improving the distribution and particle size of the refractory material particles and adding different antioxidants, four different types of silicon carbide refractory materials (SiC) were developed. After adding composite binders with different functions (including composite additives for plasticity enhancement, high humidity resistance, and increased green body strength), plasticizers, and reinforcing agents to the raw materials of silicon carbide refractory materials, six different refractory materials were produced, and various performance indicators of the refractory materials were tested. The experiment found that two of the additives had corresponding reinforcing effects.
