Dioctyl dithiophosphate zinc is a specific type of dialkyldithiophosphate zinc (ZDDP) with octyl groups in its molecular structure. It is a widely applied lubricant additive, featuring good oil solubility and compatibility with various base oils, which enables it to be uniformly dispersed in lubricating oils for stable performance.
In terms of functions, it has multiple excellent properties that are critical for lubricant performance. First, it acts as a high-efficiency anti-wear agent and extreme pressure agent. Under high load or extreme pressure conditions, it can react with the metal surface quickly to form a firm chemical protective film, which effectively reduces the friction and wear between metal friction pairs, and prevents the occurrence of seizure, pitting and other severe wear phenomena. Second, it has a strong antioxidant effect. It can inhibit the oxidative degradation of lubricating oil at high temperatures, delay the formation of harmful by-products such as sludge, colloid and acidic substances, thus extending the service life of lubricants and maintaining the cleanliness of mechanical equipment. Third, it also serves as a corrosion inhibitor. It can adsorb on the metal surface to form a protective layer, isolating the metal from corrosive media such as acids and moisture generated during equipment operation, and avoiding the corrosion and rusting of metal parts.
This additive is commonly used in the formulation of engine oils, gear oils, hydraulic oils and industrial lubricants, especially suitable for equipment operating under harsh working conditions, providing comprehensive protection for mechanical components and improving the reliability and service life of equipment.
