Polymethacrylate T248 is a high-performance polymethacrylate-type viscosity index improver, specially developed for lubricating oil formulations. It is synthesized through the polymerization of methacrylate monomers with different alkyl chain lengths, and its molecular structure is designed to have excellent compatibility with various mineral base oils and synthetic base oils, ensuring uniform dispersion in lubricants without causing precipitation or stratification during storage and use.
In terms of core functions, Polymethacrylate T248 mainly serves as a viscosity index improver and also has auxiliary pour point depressant properties. As a viscosity index improver, it can effectively reduce the sensitivity of lubricant viscosity to temperature changes. At high temperatures, the polymer molecules stretch, increasing the internal friction of the oil and preventing excessive viscosity reduction, thus maintaining sufficient oil film strength to lubricate friction pairs. At low temperatures, the polymer molecules curl up, minimizing the increase in oil viscosity and ensuring good fluidity of the lubricant for easy cold start of equipment.
Its auxiliary pour point depressant effect helps to lower the pour point of lubricants, allowing them to remain fluid at lower temperatures and avoiding solidification that could block oil passages. In addition, Polymethacrylate T248 has good shear stability, which can resist the shear force generated by mechanical movement and maintain its performance without rapid degradation during long-term use.
This additive is widely used in the formulation of multi-grade engine oils, hydraulic oils, gear oils and industrial lubricants, helping to improve the overall performance of lubricants and extend the service life of mechanical equipment.
