Ectoin is a natural low-molecular cyclic amino acid derivative, produced via microbial fermentation from salt-tolerant extremophilic bacteria. These microbes generate ectoin to survive harsh environments including high salinity, dryness, extreme temperature and strong UV exposure. It is a mild, highly skin-compatible active raw material widely used in cosmetic and medical skincare products.
It carries strong water-binding capacity. Each ectoin molecule can bind multiple water molecules to form a stable hydration film on skin surface, locking moisture inside skin cells and effectively relieving dry, tight and flaky skin conditions.
Ectoin delivers prominent barrier repair effects. It stabilizes cell membranes and skin lipid structure, reduces skin roughness and peeling, and recovers damaged skin barrier caused by over-cleansing, chemical irritation, laser treatment or sunburn.
It owns remarkable soothing and anti-inflammatory properties. It calms redness, stinging and allergic discomfort of sensitive skin, lowers skin irritation triggered by external irritants, blue light, UV rays and air pollutants.
Ectoin provides comprehensive anti-stress protection for skin. It weakens oxidative damage from free radicals, protects skin cells and proteins against environmental aggressors, and slows down premature aging signs such as dullness and fine lines.
